MEDITATION: Shabbat As The Antidote To Amalek (Parashat Zachor and Purim)

In this meditation, we consider a teaching by the Hasidic rebbe, the Sefat Emet, that the remembrance of Shabbat is in and of itself what defeats and erases the memory of Amalek. We look at Mordecai in the Megillah as a representative of this Shabbat peace in a world filled with chaos, cruelty and urgency, and we practice leaning into our own sacred inner place of Shabbat peace as an act of resistance.
