MEDITATION: Coming Out of Hiding Into Connection (Yom Kippur)

Maybe it’s not the mistake, but the moment after that counts. Adam and Eve go into hiding after they sin the Torah’s fist sin. Filled with shame, they are unable to connect to a God who continues to want to connect to them. Each Yom Kippur, we attempt to repair this rupture by coming out of hiding about our own shortcomings and letting God stay with us and love us as we are, not disconnecting, like Adam, but returning to connection, and letting that connection heal us and transform us like a mikvah. In this meditation, we explore these themes and feel into our own capacity to step forward as we are and re-connect to a loving God.
