Our parsha has a long list of one-line laws about how to act towards one another and especially towards the needy and defenseless. We have a similar long line inside us of needy ones clamoring for our attention and care and right action. We feel it as a weight sometimes and get overwhelmed or despairing. The parsha also has a mantra that is woven through all these injunctions — Ani Hashem, I am God. This is the holding container, the vast sea of divine love and compassion that can hold it all. In this meditation, we explore the nature of this holding container and how to connect to it and embody it for ourselves and others.
