The plagues escalate until finally, Pharaoh lets the people go. In this meditation, we take the whole scene inside, finding our own inner “children of Israel” part, the locked away hurt inner child who longs to be set free, as well as our own Pharaoh part who acts as a harsh inner guard to shut down and keep the inner child in bondage. We then explore the natural growth process of healing and release as it plays out in the plagues and the exodus as well as in ourselves. This meditation makes use of the IFS (Internal Family Systems) therapy concepts of protectors and exiles. It also makes use of this quote from Rabbi Dr. Avraham Twerski: “The stimulus for the lobster to grow is to feel uncomfortable.”
