Moshe delivers the news of God’s plans for redemption, but the people are not able to hear it or take it in because of kotzer ruah, “shortness of breath” and hard labor. In this meditation, we explore what it feels like to be closed to the song of hope and redemption and nourishment that is constantly being offered to us, and we consider both how to accept this closed state and how to begin to soften it by learning to breathe deeply and to allow God to enter through our breath, to breathe God in.
