POEM: Light one Light (Chanukah)

(Originally published in 2021)

When darkness descends
and a voice says —
it will never end,

Light one light.

It’s not enough.

Light one light.

It won’t last.

Light one light.

It’s dangerous.

Light one light.

It won’t help.

Light one light.

You don’t have time.

Light one light.

Other people have bigger, brighter lights.

Light one light.

The horrors, the prisons, the homeless, the hungry.

Light one light.

You are not important enough.

Light one light.

It’s enough.
Enough to remind you
Enough to rebind you
Enough to rekindle your own light
Enough to help you see the love.
Enough to know you are enough.
You can light more tomorrow.
For tonight, one light is enough.
